Elisia’s mom and dad weren’t looking for “normal” posed family portraits. They wanted something fun, something that showed their personality a bit more than what they might get in front of a solid studio background. That’s just what we like to hear, too! We loved exploring Point Defiance’s spring flowers with this family. 

One of the things that made this photo shoot particularly great was Elisia’s outfit. Why was it so good for family photos?

First of all, it was personal. Grandma made it for her, so it was stitched with love as well as tailored to fit her little style.

Secondly, it was comfortable for toddling around the park. If a baby feels constricted, she will look constricted in the photos. Elisia loved being free to move, and it showed!

Finally, the patterns made it easy for my camera to focus on her. Solid colors, especially bright against dark or dark against bright, can make it hard for the camera’s sensors to focus. (You can imagine how frustrating traditional wedding attire can be!) This fun, colorful pattern made it easy for the camera to find a focus point and capture each moment.
