James & Amanda's Surprise Engagement!

Howdy everyone!

It's always a lot of fun getting to do surprise engagement photos. It's a whole new kind of challenge, sneaking around and not drawing the attention of the soon-to-be-fiancée. It's particularly difficult—and exciting—when it's a fellow photographer whom you know.

We met Amanda a couple years ago at our church. She’s been a great friend and fellow photographer, and she’s even the photographer who took my current headshots. That’s why we were thrilled and nervous when her boyfriend James contacted us last week asking if we could covertly photograph his proposal. We were honored to be a part and wanted to give them the very best!

We arrived at Pier 62 on the Seattle Waterfront. We kept our hoods up and attempted to look as natural as possible for a cold but sunny Seattle day. I made eye contact with James, while Amanda thankfully remained oblivious. The rest you can see for yourself.

Interested in setting up your own surprise engagement photos? The method we used for James and Amanda is one many we can use to make your proposal a memorable success, and we're happy to help with ideas. Get in touch with us over at our contact page, and we'll get to work!
