A Vintage Cafe in Stormy Weather: Chris and Natalie's Wedding Day

You may recognize Chris and Natalie from our blog. Or the front page of our website. Or our Facebook page. Okay, so we've used them in a lot of our advertising. Their engagement session turned out so well—they suggested a spectacular location, they made great style choices, and their love shone through every look and touch between them.

We had the pleasure of shooting Chris and Natalie's wedding day this September as the last of our official wedding season. Some people wonder why anyone would schedule a wedding late in September in Washington, when the forecast is almost assuredly going to call for rain. While some just want a fall wedding, Chris and Natalie chose their day because up until then Chris would be highly involved with The Convoy Tacoma, a giant outreach providing free school supplies, services, groceries, and more to the community of Tacoma. We saw firsthand the vastness of his task when we volunteered for the event, taking hundreds of free family photos along with another photographer. Chris was instrumental in putting together The Convoy Tacoma, Natalie was an essential support for Chris, and both did an excellent job.

After all the hard work pulling off an event like The Convoy Tacoma, it's no wonder that Chris and Natalie's wedding day felt fairly stress free. Even with a terribly stormy weather, we ended up with beautiful, indoor first look photos thanks to The Bair Bistro. While the clouds threatened to downpour outside, we were dry and having fun in the vintage cafe, complete with a cheering section of customers and staff. Back at Steilacoom Town Hall, the wedding itself, like almost every one we've shot, was a little behind schedule. We had some puzzle-solving to do with the small room we had for bridal party and family photos. Yet, all in all, Chris and Natalie's joy and peace was contagious. The day was beautiful, and no storm or schedule could change that.
