Seattle Traffic Can't Ruin a Wedding

If you've ever driven in Seattle, you know the streets aren't exactly driver friendly.

Add to that a couple festivals and races, road construction on major thoroughfares, and extra road closures for no apparent reason, and you end up with a wedding day nightmare.

We left with lots of extra time for Geoff and Andrea's wedding. The plans were to get there at least an hour early, stage a first look, then take family photos before the ceremony. But the Seattle traffic got in the way. We ended up calling and texting Geoff every few minutes with a new update of how late we would be. This was the first time we'd ever been late to a wedding. We felt terrible.

And you know how Geoff and Andrea responded? Calmly. Graciously. Happily. They had already built in some extra time between the ceremony and reception, so they said they'd just do the family photos then. They wouldn't make it to their cocktail hour, but they were okay with that. The ceremony was going to be late anyway (we weren't the only ones caught in the driving chaos), and these two were happy to just go with the flow.

We did arrive before the ceremony and were able to grab an intimate first look with the bride and groom before they walked down the aisle. With the chance for a quick moment of calm, Geoff and Andrea were able to let their guards down and enjoy each other's company. After the ceremony, we went down to the University of Washington for some photos at the couple's alma mater. From there we went to the reception at the beautiful Sorrento Hotel. Since we had started late late, we stayed an hour later than we'd planned so we could take Geoff and Andrea to the rooftop plaza and take couple photos with the sunset. It wasn't the schedule we'd planned, but it worked wonderfully.

Before they'd even received all their photos, Geoff and Andrea left a very, very kind review on Wedding Wire. This is what makes all the traffic frustration and long hours of work worthwhile—knowing that we've made our clients happy on their wedding day.

Thank you, Geoff and Andrea.
