While shooting Alex and Lauren’s bride and groom photos, Hannah got a text message from a good friend of ours. Mikal and his girlfriend Hannah had just gotten engaged! We were thrilled for them as their friends, and even more excited when they asked us to be their wedding photographers.

Mikal and Hannah’s free engagement session was the first one of the year. We met them at Marymoor Park in Redmond on a gray day, praying for sun but breaking out our umbrella for the occasional spurts of rain. This was the park where Mikal had proposed, so we followed their footsteps to the stage where he had surprised her with the ring. When we reenacted the proposal, Hannah gave the exact face she’d given when she first saw the ring. Seriously!

Lots of people enjoy recreating their proposal in their engagement photos. Without sacrificing the privacy of the original proposal, they’re still able to capture one of the most exciting moments of their lives.
