Ethan & Alina: Storytelling Engagement Photos

October 10, 2012  •  Leave a Comment

It's always a pleasure seeing old friends again. There's something particularly special about my fellow students from the Art Department at Pacific Lutheran University. We weren’t just friends or even classmates; in many ways, we were comrades-in-arms.

A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of doing some engagement photos for Ethan and his bride-to-be Alina, who is a fellow alumni and survivor of PLU's photography classes. Now, because these two are both artistically inclined, they had some great ideas for props, signs, poses, etc. What really made them shine was that these props told their story. For instance, the pier where most of their photos were taken is also the pier where Ethan proposed. Also, the baseballs you see below are special because Ethan was a baseball player at PLU. Take a look at these photos and see if you can spot other glimpses of their personalities.

Being creative with your engagement and wedding isn't just a matter of making beautiful or cute props. It's about telling your story and of expressing what's important to the two of you.

What story do you want to tell? What props could you use to tell that story in your engagement, wedding, or family photos? Share below in the comments, or contact us with your ideas.
